Unire Group has started to address water reduction for its 30 million square feet of property it manages. The state has mandated properties cut water use by at least 20 percent. Unire has initiated water-reduction updates at properties in Los Angeles, San Diego and the Inland Empire by directing its landscapers to rip out turf and install drought-friendly plants. Plumbers are also replacing toilets and faucets with more efficient models. Unire expects work on its properties to extend a year or two.
